# How Much Do Facebook Ads Cost in the UK?

In short

There is no published UK-specific Meta CPM or CPC benchmark — Meta doesn't release country-level ad costs, and the "UK 2026 benchmark" tables circulating online don't disclose a sample or methodology. The best traceable public figures are WordStream/LocaliQ's 2025 benchmarks: a median Facebook CPC of **$0.70** for traffic campaigns and **$1.92** for lead-generation campaigns, with cost per lead up **21% year on year**. Those are US/global medians, not UK. The number you can actually move is not CPM but wasted impressions: a defined household seed plus a suppression list cuts effective CPA without touching your bid.

## The honest answer

Facebook ad cost is a moving number, driven by your category, audience, creative, season and bidding setup. It is also one of the most badly sourced numbers in marketing. Before quoting a benchmark to your board, know where it came from.

Note what is missing from that table: a UK CPM. We looked. Meta publishes global price-per-ad movements in earnings, not country benchmarks, and IAB UK measures total spend by format rather than unit costs. Anyone quoting you a precise UK Meta CPM for 2026 is quoting a dashboard whose sample you cannot inspect.

## What UK advertisers actually see

So here are working ranges rather than benchmarks — the bands we see across UK e-commerce and SME accounts, useful for sanity-checking a plan and useless as a target:

- **CPM** (cost per 1,000 impressions): roughly £6–£20
- **CPC** (cost per click): roughly £0.40–£2.00
- **CPA** (cost per acquisition): hugely category-dependent. Often £15–£60 for low-AOV DTC, £80–£300+ for considered purchases and B2B leads

If your numbers sit outside those bands, that is information about your category and creative, not a fault.

## Why your CPA keeps drifting up

- **More advertisers, same inventory.** Auction pressure rises, CPMs follow.
- **Broad targeting everywhere.** When everyone hands the audience to Meta, you all bid for the same "easy" converters.
- **Signal loss.** iOS changes and cookie deprecation weaken the pixel, Meta models more, knows less.
- **Creative fatigue.** Same audience seeing similar creative pushes frequency up and conversion down.

## What actually lowers Facebook ad cost

1. **Sharper Custom Audiences.** A 50k [household-level](/blog/household-intelligence-explained) seed of _your_ best customers beats a 5m broad pool every time.
2. **Suppression.** Stop spending on existing customers and low-value households.
3. **Creative tied to a defined audience.** "Recent movers" creative aimed at recent-mover households outperforms generic creative aimed at everyone.
4. **Geographic and life-stage focus.** Cut entire segments that historically don't convert for you.

## How Outra reduces wasted spend

The biggest hidden cost in Facebook ads isn't CPM, it's spend on households that were never going to buy. Outra resolves your customer list to a household identifier, appends **Purchasing power band**, **Property value band**, **Life stage** and **Move stage**, then pushes the segments worth winning, and the segments worth suppressing, into Meta as Custom Audiences.

Same creative budget. Better-defined audience. Lower effective CPA. The audience lever Meta took away. At a household level, working in the campaigns you already run.
