How to Add Household Intelligence to Klaviyo in 10 Minutes (No Dev Required)
A step-by-step setup for enriching every Klaviyo profile with property, family, affluence and move-stage attributes. No warehouse, no SDK, no engineering ticket.
What you'll have at the end of 10 minutes
Every active Klaviyo profile in your selected segment will carry these new custom properties:
- Family stage. E.g. Pre-school children, Bigger Families, Established Professionals, Empty Nest
- Occupancy status, Owner-Occupied, Privately Rented, Social Rented
- Property type, Detached, Semi-detached, Terraced, Flat
- Bedrooms, 1 through 5+
- Property value band
- Purchasing power band, Low through Ultra-High
- Move stage. Settled, Move intent, Moving, Just moved, Recently Moved, Sale anniversary
Every segment, flow and Custom Audience in your account can reference them immediately. No schema changes; no warehouse; no engineering ticket.
Before you start
- You need Klaviyo admin (or owner) access to authorise the integration
- You need an Outra account. Start a free trial at outra.co.uk if you don't already
- You need to know which Klaviyo segment you want to enrich first (most brands start with "engaged in last 90 days")
The 5 steps
Step 1, Connect Klaviyo (~2 minutes)
Inside Outra, choose Connect Klaviyo. You'll be redirected to Klaviyo's standard OAuth screen. The same one any approved integration uses. Authorise read access to profiles and write access to custom properties. No SDKs, no API keys to manage.
Step 2. Pick the segment to enrich (~1 minute)
Choose the Klaviyo segment Outra should enrich. We recommend "Engaged in last 90 days" for the first run. It gives you fastest impact on flows and campaigns without burning enrichment on lapsed profiles.
Step 3. Resolve to households (background, ~minutes to hours)
Outra hashes each profile, matches against the UK household graph (30M+ addresses), and builds a household identifier per profile. You don't need to do anything during this step.
Step 4, Append attributes (background, automatic)
Family stage, Occupancy status, Property type, Bedrooms, Property value band, Purchasing power band and Move stage are written back to the Klaviyo profile as standard custom properties.
Step 5. Build your first segment (~3 minutes)
Open Klaviyo's segment builder. The new properties appear in the dropdown alongside everything else. Build your first segment, e.g. "High Purchasing Power AND engaged in last 30 days", and use it in a flow or campaign.
Add household intelligence to Klaviyo in one OAuth click
Connect Klaviyo, choose a segment, and Outra writes Family stage, Property type, Bedrooms, Property value band, Purchasing power band and Move stage back to each profile. Ready for your next flow, segment or Custom Audience.
What Outra knows about every UK household
All attributes and segments are tied to a single identifier: the household, not an email, not a cookie.
- Employment stage
- Move stage
- Age band
- Family stage
- Occupancy status
- Property type
- Bedrooms
- Property size
- Property value band (£)
- Garden
- Garage
- Parking / Driveway
- Area type
- Region
- Purchasing power band
- Household income band
- Credit score band
- UHW (ultra-high wealth)
What to ship first
- Branch your welcome flow on Move stage = "Just moved" / "Recently Moved"
- Add a suppression rule: exclude High Purchasing Power households from your default discount sequence
- Sync your top-RFM × High Purchasing Power segment to Meta as a Custom Audience seed
Each is covered in detail in 5 Klaviyo flows you can't build without household data.
Common questions before you click connect
Will this slow Klaviyo down?
No. Custom properties are a native Klaviyo concept; we write to them the same way Klaviyo writes its own predictive properties.
What happens to profiles we can't match?
Unmatched profiles are left untouched. No partial data; no fake values. Match rates are typically 70–90% of UK profiles for D2C lists.
Can we remove the data?
Yes. Disconnect Outra and the custom properties remain on the profile but stop updating. Or trigger a deletion job to remove them entirely.
The bottom line
Most "enrichment" projects stall at the engineering cost. This one shouldn't. It's an OAuth click, a segment selection, and a wait. The hard work is what you do after the data lands: branching flows, sharper Custom Audiences, smarter suppression. That's where the revenue moves.
